The managing director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) says no petrochemical advancement is possible without considering health, safety and environment instructions during operations.
Marziyeh Shahdaei,
who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs told a meeting
of petrochemical officials and executives that in order to reach sustainable
development in the petrochemical sector, the required HSE infrastructure must
be provided or strengthened in the sector.
The meeting was held with the aim of assessing the intensity
and causes of a series of accidents that have taken place in a number of
petrochemical plants over the course of the past few months across the country.
She said such meetings must be held regularly in the
presence of leading petrochemical companies from across the country, calling on
head of holdings and firms to observe HSE instructions in their activities.
Shahdaei said all petrochemical plants in Iran are required
to observe HSE instructions in their operations and all those firms that fail
to do so will be faced with graved consequence.
Last week, she had said those petrochemical plants that fail
to observe HSE measures in their activities will be delisted from receives of
feedstock.
The petrochemical industry in Iran is privatized
but the government has maintained a monopoly for feedstock supply to plants.
