Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaie said on Sunday that the cause of fire in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company will be announced after extinguishing the fire.
Shadaie told Shana that the fire is now getting controlled
and the remaining flames will be extinguished in hours.
On the reasons behind the incident, she said as long as the
fire has not been put off, one cannot say for sure about the absolute reason.
She noted, “There is no room for concern.”
Governor of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone
(PETZONE) Mansoor Qamar had said main portion of fire in Bandar Imam
Petrochemical Company had been extinguished and operations to contain it
continue.
Qamar had said the portions, including the part where the
flames concentrated forming two points in the BDSR section, were put off.
He had maintained fire was getting extinguished. “Fire still
remains in the western angle of the depot and operations to contain it fully
continue thanks to cooperation of the firefighters.”
He underlined that the fire had not left any fatality.
Head of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company Reza Amiri said
the fire was in the depot part and did not affect the activity of the facility.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company is a petrochemical
facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane,
ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy
aromatics and Paraxylene (PX). It is the first major producer of petrochemical
products in Iran for its high production capacity.
The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar
Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
