Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaie said on Sunday that the cause of fire in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company will be announced after extinguishing the fire.

Shadaie told Shana that the fire is now getting controlled and the remaining flames will be extinguished in hours.

On the reasons behind the incident, she said as long as the fire has not been put off, one cannot say for sure about the absolute reason.

She noted, “There is no room for concern.”

Governor of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) Mansoor Qamar had said main portion of fire in Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company had been extinguished and operations to contain it continue.

Qamar had said the portions, including the part where the flames concentrated forming two points in the BDSR section, were put off.

He had maintained fire was getting extinguished. “Fire still remains in the western angle of the depot and operations to contain it fully continue thanks to cooperation of the firefighters.”

He underlined that the fire had not left any fatality.

Head of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company Reza Amiri said the fire was in the depot part and did not affect the activity of the facility.
