Takht Jamshid Pars Assalouyeh Petrochemical Plant had made 94.5% physical progress by May 20.
The plant is being developed in Pars Special Economic Energy
Zone (PSEEZ) in Assalouyeh, south of Iran, and will become operational in the
near future.
Its construction
began in 2013 by private investment and will produce 65,000 tons per year of
different polystyrenes including XPS, HIPS, GPPS and EPS.
The plant has also obtained the first license to process XPS
from TOYO company.
Polystyrene (PS) is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from
the monomer styrene. Polystyrene can be solid or foamed.
Polystyrene is one of the most widely used plastics, the
scale of its production being several billion kilograms per year.
Polystyrene can be naturally transparent, but can be colored
with colorants. Uses include protective packaging (such as packing peanuts and
CD and DVD cases), containers (such as "clamshells"), lids, bottles,
trays, tumblers, and disposable cutlery.
