Head of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shah-daei said the company views social responsibility as one of the industry's strategies.
Speaking to NIPNA prior to the official inauguration of a two-day conference on corporate social responsibility in petroleum industry in Tehran on Tuesday, the official said NPC views fulfillment of CSR as one of its priorities, adding the conference provides for a suitable opportunity for understanding SR, changes of standpoints with regard to SR fulfillment, and organization of CSR activities.
She said SR has always been highly regarded in the petrochemical sector given its nature, and as a rule of thumb, in order for an industry to develop, matters like economy, society, the environment and even culture and arts must be taken into account as SR indexes.
"Unfortunately, SR fulfillment has been challenged in recent years due to privatization of Iran's petrochemical sector, but this issue is being addressed by the synergy and understanding of the sector's players," she said.
Shah-daei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, said fulfillment of SR is regarded as an asset for promoting reputation of companies these days, expressing hope that all the industrialists will join hands to meet SR standards in their activities.
